An unexamined life is not worth living- Socrates.
If you do not examine your life nor question certain things that happened or are happening, then your life is just like stagnant water, never moving, never changing and a breeding place for all sorts of destructive things.
Many times we are afraid of moving away from the good we have and plunging ourselves into the unknown best. The unknown best remains unknown until an action which is unrelenting makes it known and the best it is.
You are afraid of doing that thing because you may fail at it. Then surely you are not afraid of mediocrity, of redundancy, of failure which is what remaining in a position and not moving really is. Failure may visibly mean not seeing things work out as planned, but for those with insight, with courage, it silently and saliently means ‘do it again and do it better’.
Success doesn’t come in money, affluence, influence, luxurious and comfortable living, success already comes when the courage is strengthened with a firm resolve to keep moving, working and doing, to keep praying and aiming. As Winston Churchill says :“Success is not final; failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts”
The false sense of security we have in the seemingly good things we have already gotten keeps us fixed like the three Eyo masquerade that indicates you are in Lagos. They never move, they never shake but are at the mercy of the sun, wind, rain and other elements. If struck by some heavy wind and they break, that is their end, they have served their term and the government will not hesitate to get another one sculpted.
Do not be so comfortable that you do not work to get the best out of life. Do not feel safe in that state whereas your life is at the mercy of elements such as the economy, government actions and policies, your boss, your spouse, friends, family and others. Remember you have something the world needs and you will never know if you are okay being an average person.
The need to regularly quiz yourself, to know what exactly it is you are doing, how you do it and if it is the best that you can produce will help you be rid of all false sense of security and comfort.
Live your life like the world is panting at your feet, seeking a breakthrough. Leave the safety of your head and journey into the storms of life armed with God, faith, firm purpose, willpower, good relationships and you shall be successful.
